2002 mountaineer cranks but does not start

My 2002 Mountaineer (on 3 occasions) would not start. Let it set for 10 minutes and it cranked right up.Sat for a week on a slight slope . Same problem. Could not smell fuel when I depressed the pedal a number of times.Pulled fuel pump relay. Contactors looked bad so I replaced it. Fuse too! Best car I have ever had.Help!

Listen for the fuel pump whine when you turn your key from off to run. It should hum for a couple seconds. Could be the in tank fuel pump is on the way out.
