2002 explorer sport trac
I have a 2002 sport trac. I have went through 5 starters and they keep burning up. I can drive it to a destination an once I shut it off, it won’t crank back. Now the motor won’t turn the starter over or if it does it won’t turn it but a lil bit. Any suggestions??

Welcome to the site.

What brand of starter are you using?

Battery terminal connections
Starter relay in the pjb under the hood
Those are suspects

Do you have the ground wire hooked up?

Are you using reman starters?

Ok..battery connections are good.
Starter isn’t touching flywheeel or going deep enough in too touch flywheel

What’s pjb

Power junction box, the big fuse box under hood

If the starter is not kicking out the pinion enough to engage the flywheel

Check voltages at starter cables, should be same as battery over 12.0 volts

Check flywheel make sure it’s ok all teeth are good and it did not crack around the hub

Bench test starter
