2003 CSport Trac 4.0 skip or stumble at idle

While idling my 4.0 will miss or skip/stumble if you will. It doesn't seem to have a problem while at driving speeds that I can tell. Were to start? Not sure when its had a tune up wires/plugs/coils only had it a few months. It does have 130,000 miles. The previous owner had all maint. done according to manual. Would you replace the plugs, wires, and a new coil and go from there? Should the computer show a code or codes for misfire? Looking for advice and what all I should do anyway. Thanks Keith

It would not hurt to change the plugs and wires but it might be worth cleaning out the idle air control valve as well. Both of my rangers would struggle from time to time but cleaning out the IAC took care of it.

As said, it won't hurt to change the plugs (or at least check to see their condition) and clean the IAC. I would also clean the MAF sensor between the air filter and the throttle body.

There is also a vacuum elbow that tends to get a leak. Listen for a vacuum leak too.
