2003 Escape Question ABS going Nuts

Morning all. I know this is an Explorer forum but I can not find an Escape forum. When it is cold out I back out of my drive and my brakes work fine. When I start going forward and stop the first few times the brakes start to pulse like the ABS is going off. I am on dry pavement no slipping. When it is warmer above 40 it does not do this. So my question is could this be water in the brakes lines or something else I am not thinking of? Thanks Mike

Now as to you question, are you seeing any ABS or check engine warning lights? when this happens how long has the Vehicle sat couple hours all night?

I hate when that happens I swear I looked. I did find two of the three forums you showed but the activity on them is from 2012 and really slow to answer if any answer. Anyway it does it all the time after I shut it down then let it sit while I run in a store then come back out. No ABS or CEL lights Thanks

I think what your seeing is that when you start off a slight bit of surface rust has built up on the rotors (which is normal) and when hitting the breaks its making the abs think the wheels are locking so it pulses the breaks for control. Most ABS systems do a self test at around 10 MPH after start up but normally its never noticeable by the driver! I would recommend having your Brake pads, rotors, and caliper checked out. I had a Jeep Cherokee that every morning when cold would do the same thing till the surface rust was rubbed off! It never did it on warm dry days but if it rained or was cold it would!
