As far as I've heard, no. Based on continued usage of 5R55S for quite a number of years, with V-8 engines, I suppose that may be true. No real numerical data, though. imp

The 2002 and 2003 XLT should have 5R55W. I believe FORD changed to 5R55S in 2004. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure 2003 has the "W"... the one that has the servo bore issue. They make a Servo with an o-ring so you don't have to sleeve it (don't even need to remove your transmission) but have never used one. I've heard good things about them.

Whatever the year changeover from W to S, not sure exactly, they are both the same transmission, differing only in second gear ratio. Because of that, substituting one for the other results in confusion for the computer, which throws codes so related. I know of no differences in servo bore issue between the two, since the servos are identical. imp
