Finally got a reasonable pic of the Ex with the ECB bar on. Will break out the camera this weekend and get a few better ones. Still need to mount a mini-winch to it, and fix the broken license plate.

I like the base, but the tubing could be done soooo much better IMHO....

man i wantone hell arb is based out of australia so i wonder if ebc would be willing to ship a bumper state side. do you know what the weight of it was? does it have the impact mounts that collapse in front end accidents?

Weight is around 20kg - it's an alloy bar, not a steel one. It is also fully airbag compatible, so I guess something collapses in a front end crash.

Thanks to all for the comments - certainly makes the front of the truck look like a 4WD should! Now, just gotta get a rear bar like Donner's, and i'll be happy.

looks great keep up good work

that doesn't weight much at all!!!! do they have a web site or anyway to contact them? how much did you pay for it?

Hered's the link to their site:

http://www.ecb.com.au/model/explorer.htm

I bought mine second hand, but they are around AUD$1500 (USD$1350) new, and freight would be a few hundred more, I'd reckon. I'd get the black or grey powdercoat finish (my finish was polished alloy, but I painted the actual bar bit with hammercoat paint and just left the bar work polished).

Here's their international purchasing link:

thanks bud i'm gonna look into it after seeing how sick your explorer looks i wanna modify that bumper to fit my truck.

right by the wheels how much higher is the metal bumper then the plastic one? i had to cut my mountaineers bumper to clear the 35s so if this will give me just as much clearance that would be great andmuch cleaner

ok soi just filled out the international form and it wont send grrrrr. hahah i wannna buy one right now. i'll have to try later

or maybe i should take my girl and i on a week long vacation and bring one back under the plane haha. we have been looking at going on vacation

You would need to cut some out to fit the 35s, but should work/look better than cutting the plastic - I'll get a side on shot with my 31.7's (32's) so you can see how much room there is

ok sounds good i just had to cut the lower part i'll see if i have a pics that shows it somewhat

Not liking the crome but the rest looks cool!

these are the only parts i had to trim so maybe that bumper will clear. idk if you can see it but its just the bottom corner that i needed to trim

Cheers - good thing it's not chrome then (polished alloy)!;)

haha very true. when you first said it was alloy i was like hmmm really thats different. they make some really good points about why it is made of alloy tho

The following pics are as a result of my missus rear ending a car that decided to late brake for an amber (just turned) light! She reckons she hit at about 40km/h; given the damage to the other car, I reckon the bullbar saved a lot of damage to the Explorer - it's still driveable, with (so far) only visible damage being to the bar, and the radiator support panel.

The kids were in the truck too (I wasn't though - she wouldn't have been driving if I was in it), but all are OK, as is the lady she hit.

The force of the impact can be seen in the last shot - it sheared the factory tow hook in 2 and snapped the HT bolt holding it in.
