Hello, I have an '03 explorer 4.0 SOHC. Over the past couple of weeks my Temp Guage has been fluctuating. The gauge will red line and them drop down to "normal". When it returns to normal, the heater runs hot, but periodically. It will cool down until it redlines again. Ive also noticed that it has begun to spew coolant around the resivoir when doing so.
I have changed out the TSAT, Coolant(Flushed the system as well) and radiator cap. The radiator was changed out a year ago and the water pump two years ago.
I don't have an extensive knowledge of cars, just enough to get the job done. I'm baffled on what it could be.
