I have a 2003 Ford explorer XLT, v6 Gas...I am trying to do a timing chain, I have the Timing chain Kit already. The problem is getting the driver shaft (i think that is the name of it) off. I have rented over 3 pulleys, they all do not grip and slip off. What type/kind of pulley (name, website to buy it, etc) do I need to finish the job? What are the steps?

I have a 2003 Ford Explorer v6- 4.0L vin E245ci-MFI GAS SOHC, It has like 3-4 chains I am not looking for instructions on how to do a timing chain, I am looking to find out what kind of pulley do I need? I have almost everything off but the driver shaft.....???? What kind of pulley do I need to rent?

In order to remove the crank shaft (figured out the name) you need to use a pulley to remove it......as I was told. Some pulleys are 2-3 jaw pulleys. The ones I used just doesn't work.

Sounds like you may need a camshaft lockout tool...you Will get twice the responses in the stock section....
