I was looking at a 2003 Sport Trac w/ 4 wheel drive and it shifted fine to 4 high, but didn't shift to 4 low. Is there a special technique to use or something? Also after reading about all of the problems people have had with there T-cases going out on them should I have to worry about this one failing on me down the road? Are there common problems with these T-cases in Sport Tracs?

P.S. the Sport Trac only has 14,000 miles on it

Thanks

Were you in Neutral with your foot on the brake when trying to shift to 4low?

Explorer T-cases do fine under normal driving and normal offroading. It is only under extreme cases that they start to show shortcomings. The shift motor on the t-case is a different story. They tend to get dirty and dry over time, often from lack of use. On an '03, it should work problem-free for years. It may need a cleaning/rebuild a few years down the road, but shouldn't be of concern any time soon.

I thought that I would be able to keep it in drive, but I guess not. THe only time that I'll use 4 wheel drive is in the winter when it snows, or maybe if I ever go on an off road trail.
