Have an 04 Adrenalin 4x4. First problem is my overdrive off light keeps flashing when the tranny is under load like acceling. I took it to the local ford dealership the tech said it could be a solenoid. Ive done some research and found there are "solenoid blocks" on the tranny, if someone could ellaberate just a little bit and tell me if this is something I could be ably to fix myself

The second problem Im having is I just got back from a 7 month deployment and my 4x4 will not engage. I will put the switch in 4 high while driving under 10 mph, I will hear the click from the 4x4 control module down by the passenger feet but the lights will not illuminate and the transfercase will not engage........now i just put the truck in neutral and put the switch in 4 low and tapped on the 4x4 cm and then it clicked into 4 low, but afterthat i couldnt get the truck in drive or reverse, the truck just acted like it was in neutral and i tried to put the tranny in park and it started grinding, if anyone call help I would appreciate it!!! Thanks alot!

Sorry you're having problems with you Sport Trac.

I really appreciate your reply, I took the shifter motor off the transfer case and the triangular shaped shaft coming out of the transfer case was stuck between 4H and 4L, I manullay switched it to 2H. the 4x4 low light is still illuminated on the console. The truck IS NOT in 4x4 though. Im taking it on base to the hobby shop and Im gonna put it up on jacks, however my speedo dosnt work now and the tranny is shifting really hard. do you know of any history of problems with theses trannys or the 4x4 control module? Thanks

Welcome to this forum! How many miles do you have? The solenoid blocks tend to act up around 60K miles. They are very sensitive to dirty fluid. Ford wants people to believe that these transmissions are sealed, and not user serviceable but this is not true. There are 2 sticky threads on the top of the transmission section that you could start with. The first one is called the 5R55W fluid fill. It explains how to check the fluid level, and replace the fluid. The second one is the 5R55W solenoid block replacement thread written by Borland. It has a step by step procedure with photos on replacing the solenoid block. Many members have found that flashing the PCM, and installing a new tune helped improve the shifting, and gas mileage after replacing the block. Did you get the code numbers of the fault codes?
