2004 Explorer is in Safe mode

My Service Engine Soon light came on and the code the computer gave was P0401 which is for a faulty EGR valve. I replaced the valve and now the engine has gone into Failsafe mode. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "safe mode" and what is the vehicle doing? Did you clear the codes or disconnect the battery?

I meant failsafe mode. I only disconnected the battery for five minutes. Did not clear the codes (no tool).

Okay, I got it. I disconnected the battery for about ten minutes, then I waited about twenty more minutes to give the computer time to reboot. Everything was fine when I started it after that. Before, I was trying to start the engine immediately after I reconnected the battery.
