2004 Explorer Limited with Base Radio - Help

My 04 Limited came with the base cd/cassette.

Can I upgrade it to the audiophile system? I have put in new 3way door speakers and have a 6cd changer (2L1F-18C815-CE).

Can you buy the stock sub/amp and wiring harness to make this work?

Your Limited comes with the Audiophile system as a standard equipment. I don't know why you have the base system. But since you asked, you should just go the aftermarket route.

I don't want the aftermarket look if I can help it.

I want the audiophile sub loation.

www.crutchfield.com <- they have subs for earlier explorers that fit in the stock sub location. Or goto a local car audio shop and ask them what they can do for you. Write down what they say, and then just go home and order it.


Question, if your ex is limited and came with the base sound system, why havn't you gone back to the dealer and complained? unless you bought specifically without that sound system?

hdyoung, you didn't check your window sticker when you bought your X. Your X had the option for the base sound system. You should have checked that. You could try looking on ebay for the sub/amp.
