Can an admin kindly delete my previous post? I put the wrong code in the title. Apologies!

REPOST with corrected code:

Hello all. This is my first post, and I must say, this forum is a God-send for us explorer owners.

I've searched and read many threads related to P0775 (Pressure Control Solenoid B) and shifting problems, but felt it would be helpful to post anyways as my situation does not seem as severe as those I read, and only involves this single code at this point.

I have a 2004 Ford Explorer XLS 4.0 SOHC with a 5R55S transmission. The transmission was rebuilt in October of 2010 - the solenoid block was not one of the hard parts that was replaced in that process. I'm currently at a whopping 185k miles, and the tranny rebuild was done at 155k.

Symptom: shift flare from 1-2, varies depending on load, on a flat shifts at around 3k rpm, while on an incline shifts at about 4k rpm.

As of two days ago it was also shifting a little hard into reverse and displaying some other symptoms but I took care of a few other things and eliminated the hard shifting, namely: replaced two bad downstream O2 sensors, replaced my MAF sensor since I saw a permanent code of P1100 (after I cleaned the old one with electronic cleaner and saw no improvement), and changed my plugs. The GOOD NEWS is that after the O2 sensor, plug, and MAF replacements my mileage jumped from a paltry 17 mpg highway to about 23. The bad news is my O/D off light continues to come on and it continues to throw a P0775. I was, of course, hoping that sensors were just causing shift problems and the code was a red herring.

Sorta reiterating here, but, it is definitely worth noting that the shift from 1-2 is now a pretty darn smooth shift, despite the flare to 3k-4k rpm - and, yep, I can coax the shift to occur sooner by easing up on the gas a bit.

I'm thinking I should start by doing a band adjustment. I have the pdf and have read the threads on how to replace the solenoid block but I'm a little leery since I've never dug into transmission work.

Thoughts? Thanks very much in advance!
Jim

Jspeaker,

Did you ever get this fixed? I have the exact same symptoms and I have an idea of what it is but wanted to see if you had any luck with yours?
