2004 Explorer ticking sound in Drive

My Explorer has an annoying ticking sound while stopped and in Drive. The sound seems to stop while in Neutral.

I have read posts here suggesting the fan clutch could be the culprit. Worst case, I'm looking at the Tranny.

Any suggestions?
