Ok, I've been searching and searching and maybe I'm just not finding it. But I think my problems could all be connected so I'll just post a new thread to describe all the symptoms I'm experiencing.
First, I have a 2004 Mountaineer. Paid off so instead of the car payment, I'm experiencing the repair payments. Wife on a trip last year was stuck paying a shop along the way for new front wheel bearings. Joy. Second time the left front was replaced as I replaced the left front a few years ago. Heard the crunchy noises and picked up another set. Turned out to be the front driveshaft. What I get for assuming. So the front driveshaft is out and have been running it pretty easy for a couple months now. I'll get around to replacing soon. So I noticed the AC doesn't work when it started to get hot. Going to look under the front to see if the wire is damaged. Then the front steering started to bind...like it hits a flatspot and gets tight. Noticed some leakage around the rack but can't determine if it's PS fluid. Check the res and it's full. Of course, bad timing with finances. Now I'm hearing creaks in the steering wheel inside the truck. Sounds like a creaky door that needs oil on the hinges. I was told it sounds like the rack is about to poop out on me. Joy. I'm also hearing noises where it sounds like a wheel bearing or something is going out....low speeds, usually hearing it in my housing community, where it is making a ticking noise. Wife thinks it's in the rear but it sounds like the front to me. Goes away when speed is increased or nearing a stop. Like it's only in a 5-10 MPH range where it makes noise. I'm trying hard to hang onto this truck as it's been a decent truck and it's paid off. Any thoughts on where to start on this headache?
