Just upgraded from a 2000 to a 2005 and was hoping someone would have insight as to whether I can run my iPod directly through the stock stereo (it's the satellite ready one) or will I have to purchase the aftermarket frequency adapter that plugs into the cig lighter?

I do not see a connection but thought I would ask the forum.

Any info is appreciated.

Bump.

I've been searching for the same thing.

Yeah, it's a negative on the stock functionality -- the 2006 model year added the aux. in. (not direct control.. just the 3/16" audio jack)

The kit that jad2411 is right on the money.

hello-

found this old thread and am posting to it as I have the same question....how do i use my ipod in my 05 w/o having to use a fm transmitter....if not.....what is the bes t fm transmitter for 5th gen ipod

all of the fm transmitters don't do a good job, the radio only picks up 50hz-15,000hz while a direct input supports 20hz-20khz. There are kits that should plug right in.
One thing is find out what the color of the plugs on the back of the radio are, Black or Grey?
