2005 Explorer V8 Check Engine Light On After Servicing, Low Idle

Took my car in because it had a starter problem, ended up being the wire connecting the starter to whatever it connects to (I’m not a car guy) as well as getting new brakes and rotors. Hey also did a full checkup of the car and everything else was fine in their opinion. The very next day, I am driving and the engine light turns on. I immediately stopped and checked the gas cap, as I’ve failed to tighten the cap once or twice and the light turned off after a few miles, but this was not the case. I noticed that while at stoplights my idle drops to around 200-250 rpm before going to normal rpm ranges while driving. It’s a bit sluggish off the jump but it’s never been quick either. It’s the 4.6l V8, and I’m hoping someone here might be able to help me out here before I drop even more money into fixing it. I can give more info if needed as well.

Need to find out what the check engine light means, get the codes read with a good scanner this will give you a starting point.

A local AutoZone or similar parts store chain will read the codes for free.
