Hi, I'm a newbie here but have been a car buff for over 40 years. I've never had experence with the COP design so I'm on a new learning curve and found this site while looking up information for changing my spark plugs in my 2005 4.6 Explorer. I changed then yesterday but still have concerns in my mind over 2 things. What is the correct torque spec for the plugs, I set them at 15 ft lbs as the specs I noted were 9/15 ft lbs. The other item is did I need to use never-seize on the plug threads. I have found conflicting information as to use it, don't use it and to use die-electric grease. I lighty coated the first 5-6 threads. One big screw-up I made was with my user ID, could a moderator please remove the letter "s" from my login ID.:D I don't know how I managed to do that, is being old a good excuse?

Welcome to this forum! You could change the password yourself. Go to User CP on the upper left hand corner of the page. Anti-seize compound goes around the spark plug threads, and tune up grease goes into the spark plug boots.

Brooklyn, I do believe that he is wanting the letter "S" removed from his user name, not password...jim2005Sexplorer...

Sorry I can't answer about the plugs though.

I went into your profile, but there was no option for me to save the changes I've made. I remember reading one time that Rick will do this for Elite members only. If you want, I could close this account, and you could create a new one with the corrections.

That would be the best solution. Please close the account and I'll open a new one later today. Somewhere in my mind I became befuddled and misplaced the letter "s". It should have been behind my first name not in front of the "explorer". Thanks, Jim

OK Jim. So your account is now closed, and you are free to start a new one. Please don't forget to include the user's name who referred you when you make a new account. Double check your new user name before you finalize everything.
