Does anyone know how to disable the remote start function on a 2006 Explorer? Sometimes when my wife goes to a store, she comes back out and finds the truck running. I'd hate for that to happen while it's parked in the garage and just not wake up one morning.

Take it off? or read the manual on your particular system

factory or aftermarket??? if aftermarket, then you will need to know brand and model. then find a manual and put it into valet. If its a "ford" remote its actually a dealer add-on. there was none actually done in the "factory" back then

I believe it's a factory/dealer unit. It works with the standard Ford remote. I bought the truck used and there is no separate manual for the remote start.

How many times do you need to hit the start button for it to start? If once it maybe can be re-programmed to be twice.

im wondering if the button is getting pressed while in purse, pocket. I have been known to turn mine on before on accient with it in my pocket.

Press the lock button three times. I was hoping it would just be a simple matter of pulling a fuse or disconnecting a wire. I think that is what happens. She presses it twice get the confirmation beep that it's locked, then put the key in her purse and sometimes it gets pressed a third time. By that time she is far enough away that she doesn't realize she started it.

its aftermarket just find the module and unplug it wont effect anything
