A local fellow shop owner has a 2006 F-150 that he purchased not running. The PO worked on the truck and left the PCM laying in the bed. "Duh". After my friend bought the truck, he poured water out of the old PCM. He has purchased a used PCM but of course the truck won't start because of the PATS feature. He is prepared to ship it to Ocala and have the PATS switched off. Does anyone know if there will be a wire that needs grounded or some simple wiring change or should he be able to plug in the doctored PCM, hook up the battery and start it up?
This is the next type of PCM after the EEC-V PCMs that were in use from ~ 1997 to 2004 on some Ford vehicles.

Not gonna happen
That pats disables injectors no work around avail in the wiring
It will crank all day and never fire

This is beyond my EEC-V capabilities. I'm going to recommend that he first communicate with the tuner and see what if the workaround is.
You would think that a tuner could write a patch or do something additionally to activate the injectors. Thanks for your input.

Tuner can remove pats or program
The pats/ pcm To his existing keys a good locksmith or mechanics shop with the right equip maybe able to do that.

I’m not sure if forscan can do it? I know my friend Brett has a snap on star commander or whatever it’s called can program pats

I believe we did the PATS Delete for this 06 F150. I remember the story about how water was pouring out of the PCM... you don't hear that every day!

Did everything work fine for you after we deleted PATS?

Steve, I recommended that Andy from Andy's Auto Repair in Hazel Green AL contact you about having PATS switched off on a 2006 F-150. That would have been to replace the water damaged original PCM.
I have a question that I never got the answer to. On that particular 2006 PCM which is the next type of PCM after the EEC-V with the J-3 port, after going into the PCM and switching off PATS, are there any wiring changes to be made?
You may not remember this next situation off of the top of your head because you have had many PCMs since that you have worked on since mine which was Summer August 2021. A 1999 Ford Ranger 3.0. Thanks for fixing me up. On that particular EEC-V model, the blue wire with the orange stripe had to be cut loose from the PATS box and grounded for the stater solenoid to work.
Thanks again, Greg Gullatt in north Alabama.

How long was the pcm under water? I used to work at a recycling center that got used electronics and I'd pull computers out of 55 gallon drums full of water. Once they were dry I'd turn them on and use them. Some sat underwater all winter.

I have no idea. It was a vehicle that ended up at a nearby shop. When the truck arrived on the rollback, the PCM was in the bed for an unknown amount of time. He elected to get a known, good PCM that he had PATS switched off. That's really all I know.

Looks like we got him a good used PCM, VIN programmed it, and PATS deleted it back in October. That one would not need any starter wiring modifications. The starter relay control wire only needs to be grounded on certain models, and that one wasn't one of them. The PCM I provided should have been 100% plug and play.

The 99-00 Rangers definitely needed that dark blue/orange wire to be grounded, or it won't crank.

Yes 98-01
Ranger, Explorer pats b, starter relay must be bypassed for starter to run w
Ignition switch
