2006 mountaineer no start, no power

2006 mercury mountaineer 4.0L that initially loss major power, all of a sudden... would start but took several blocks to get to 30mph. At times it won't start, some times it will. Replaced coil pack, crank position sensor, cam position sensor, throttle position sensor. When I can get it going has very little power even in neutral. Bought a scanner to check what's happening but now I can't get it started. Any ideas are welcome

Is your engine a SOHC. I think it is from the year model. Did you have any chain rattle from the engine prior to this? When it does run do you hear any unusual sounds? I had a 98 4.0 SOHC that had a known timing chain problem and when it failed it did just like you are talking about. Sudden loss of power, did not want to run or idle. Could be something else but jumping time is my first thought.

Just had all timing chains and gears done about 1,000 miles ago. Mechanic is pretty reputable but I suppose something could have jumped. Thank you for your input tho. I will have that checked.
