When I first start out in the morning (or later in the day if my Explorer has been setting for a while) two things happen. First I can see the temperature gauge spike from normal range to red in less than 15 seconds. At the same time it seems as if the transmission is slipping (RPM's go up and the engine sounds like it is over reving). I just keep the pedal to the metal for 10 to 15 seconds then everything goes back to normal. Instantly the temperature drops and the car drives 100% normally. Anyone have any ideas?
