Hello. I posted in here recently about the AC blend door on the passenger side randomly switches from AC to full out heat. We was on a 2 hour road trip over the weekend, and it switched back and forth maybe a dozen times at most. I tried to do some research and I thought I needed to replace the blend door actuator. I tried to find it, and I think since I have the dual climate, it's a little trickier to find. However, while on the road trip, I got to thinking. It seems to me the blend door is functioning, but maybe it's getting a defective signal. If the blend door was broken, it wouldn't switch at all right? It would be stuck in one position because it's technically dead. It does makes a sound like a cheap turkey call, sop it's continuing to operate and switch back and forth, even with the truck powered off. Would I need to replace the electronics? I think the entire climate control is one unit, or is there a left and right side to it? I can get to that much easier.
What's other, more experienced mechanics thoughts on this? Would it still be the blend door? Any repairs I do, I basically get online and see what others have done and suggested. Thanks so much for any suggestions, and since the hot weather is right around the corner, my wife will appreciate it just as much as me, if not more!

Same problem here, did you find a fix?

Dean

Not yet, but I am still leaning towards it possibly being the climate control face. I see one on ebay for about $50, but it's got a rear defrost instead of a MAX AC button, so I wasn't sure if it was fully compatible. I still think it's worth a $50 gamble, and so very much easier than trying to get to the blend door actuator.

Don't know if this has been fixed yet, but I had a similar experience a few weeks back. Would switch between cool and hot air blowing out of vents, then finally nothing but hot air. Also noticed what sounded like a vacuum leak on passenger side. Ended up being disconnected vac line from cannister. Must have gotten kicked loose by a passenger then finally fell off of the cannister. Reconnected and everything was fine.

Thanks i"ll have look at mine. running the same problem

Same problem. Where is the vacuum line located?

2009 STA 4.6

Passenger side, under dash. Mine was a round plastic "tank" with what seemed like two small flat "tabs" on the bottom. Vacuum line was hanging loose and attaches between the two flat tabs.
