2008 Sport Trac Limited 4
Hi, New to the forum and new to Explorer Sport Trac ownership. I have a 2008 Sport Trac Limited 4.6. It has some slight driveline noise. Similar to a bearing noise but not as intense. A RAR,RAR, RAR..... Kind of like monster tires, doesn't seem to increase in amplitude with speed, and the frequency seem fairly stable. Peaks at around 55 MPH. Its not tire noise. Almost new Michelin LTX M&S with no signs of wear. Accelerating, coasting, even kicking the trans in neutral doesn't change this noise. With the steering neutral no feel in the steering wheel, however when you push slight right or left you can feel it in the steering wheel, just very slightly. My suspects are in this order, 1, rear drive shaft center support bearing, 2 U-joints, 3, front CV shafts, although I hear no noise when turning right or left full lock at slow speeds. Looking for input and advice from other Sport Trac owners who have dealt with this issue.
BTW, I Test drove 3 of these, 1 2007 and 2, 2008's and all three exhibited this to some extent. 1 was really bad.
Thanks
Ed

I've had this same noise, I've had to replace both front wheel bearings (2× on the passenger side)
It's probably been a couple of years and I'm starting to hear the noise again, must be a weak design.
Hope this helps
