2008 explorer 4.0 muffler options

Hi there I have a 2008 explorer with the 4.0 v6 engine and was wondering what muffler do you guys recommend. I want something that sounds nice but I don't want any interior drone. Thanks in advance

most people run FLOWMASTER 40 SERIES or MAGNAFLOW MUFFLERS

or if you want a not stock sound, thats also quiet... FLOWMASTER 70 SERIES

Okay I've decided to get the flowmaster 50 series suv muffler. Just wondering what size I need for my 2008 ford explored eddie bauer.

do you want a full cat back or just the muffler ?????

stock piping 2.25'' thats what you would need to fit i believe - if not then 2''

cat back will produce better performance...


do you have v6's or 8's ???

just the muffler because i dont want to spend a lot of money how much difference is there between just the muffler and the cat back system. and should i keep the stock resonator on or take out. and i have the v6

i got the single in and dual out 40 series flowmasters on my 01 sport and it sounds loud and deep and i still got my stock 4 cats still on. But eventually i wanna remove like 2 of my cats.

thinking if getting just single in single out muffler to replace the stock one do you know what size it would be for an 08 explorer. And also did you remove your stock resonator. and is the 40 series really loud like to the point of annoying and how is the drone inside the cab, i was thinking if getting the 50 series suv because its a bit quieter.

hi there i went to the muffler shop today to make an appointment and the guy recommend the the 40 series. He said my truck has like 6 cats so it should be not that loud he said that the 50 series would be quiet with my truck. what do you guys think and i'm also going to get him to weld a muffler tip on. thanks

How loud do you find it is it annoying inside the truck or what. Do you have a sound clip.

no i dont got sound clip at all but my explorer sounds loud and deep. I will get a sound clip eventually.

Ive got a cherry Bomb Pro Muffler with a 2.5 inch tail pipe and gibson 3.0 inch tip

it sound awesomely unstock
can get kinda loud in the cabin when i accelerate but other than that i dont find it bad at all

its not all that loud, it just sounds nice...

How does the 40 sound inside the truck and did you notice any more performance

inside the truck the 40 series sounds awesome i also got better accerlation it just takes off like no tommorrow.

Can you describe awesome like how loud are you able to hold a conversation and is it annoying on long drives. Is there a drone inside And how loud is it outside like super loud or just a little bit. Sorry for so many questions just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Thanks

i have no problems i am usually when i drive i have my bluetooth on my ear and the it sounds perfect for me i can hear people very well. Just if I open my window and the wind blows in my face. But inside it sounds good with the windows rolled up i can still hear my flowmasters it dont bug me.

But i dunno how it will sound with a single flowmaster cause i got duals.

70 series flowmasters r very quiet sounding if u wanna get those i got the 40 series cause i wanted it to be loud and deep.

i am not to sure u have to ask the other people that just got single flowmaster. I got duals so i wouldnt know if it will be quieter with single flowmaster.

How big are going to get ur tip. Cause I got dual 2 1/2 inch tips on my sport.
