just to give you one option...

the muffler will help a TINY ! bit for your exhaust flow... no real performance gains... just sound

a CAT BACK will give you louder sound and alot more UPPER RPM POWER !!!!! so worth the money i think...

so you can hear each tone at certain RPM

3rd ( last ) CAT removed... 2.5'' piping... same FM 40 MUFFLER... 2.5'' piping under rear axle... 3'' tip...

how loud was it inside the cab with just the 40 series muffler and i also ordered a kkm intake so will that make the exhaust louder or what. And also i'm going to get the muffler shop to weld on a tip what tip size do you recommend and also will tip make it louder or quieter. Thanks

well they told me at the muffler shop usually for explorers 2 1/2 inch tip is better and have u deicded on which series flowmaster u going to get and be sure to post a sound clip of it when its installed.

i have decieded on the 40 series because the guy at the muffler shop said my truck has like 6 cats so it should sound pretty good with my truck. I will post a sound clip

the interior noise of the MUFFLER alone peaks at like 2500 RPM... on my X

that was with all 3 CATS... its way louder than stock, but its not rediculous in my mind... once your on the highway, you dont even notice...

this is hard to describe because some people have a different tolerance for the exhaust tone...

now my CAT BACK peaks at 3200 RPM... and its louder than the muffler alone, because im flowing more exhaust with larger pipe... but i love it !!!!!! so worth the money to me.

i will try to post and interior vid of my exhaust for inside tone... and since the CAT BACK CLIP i added a INTAKE so the sound is more aggressive...

okay like inside the cab with just the muffler can hold a conversation with people in the car and what about talking on the phone can you hear people. and is their a drone in the c ab that gets annoying. And once i get my kkm intake will it sound a lot louder or just a little bit

with just the muffler... you can hold a conversation yes... the only time it may be a lil loud is at 2500 RPM but even then its not that bad...

yes the intake will change the tone of your MUFFLER... will sound stronger and a tiny bit louder...


i really think you should just wait and do a cat back... and save some money in the long run... cause once you get the muffler done, you will be happy for a short time, then want to upgrade... thats what i did... and it was so worth it

okay i got my muffler installed today hear this story. okay i come to pick up my truck and the guy says he installed the flow master 40 on my truck and he could barely notice a difference between stock so he installed a maganaflow flow through muffler and it sounds nice and deep and not too loud. he also installed a 3" tip that looks sweet. Thanks for all the help guys will post sound clip in the next few days.
