Okay, here is a question for you gentlemen. :)

I took a job in Alberta, that is now stable. At home, in Nova Scotia (6k Kilometers, or 4K miles away) is my truck, a ford Ranger.

I am going home in July. My vehicle has been looked after. Started periodically, driven, etc.

When I go home, I am planning on bringing my quad with me. It's 500 pounds in weight. Just under, really. I know the machine will hi-center on the wheel wells, so I was gonna make a little ramp for it. It is short enough I believe the tailgate will close.

Now, that said...

It's 500 lbs. I'm a fat ******* at 250 pounds and my GF is around 200 pounds.

Is this going to bother the truck to drive with that weight at that distance? I don't flog it. 100 kph (60 mph) the entire way, not a shade over.

I've got a 2008 Ranger Sport, V6.

Thoughts?

TY :)

Huh.

I see it hurt already because I just got a smack in the back of the head for saying my GF was 200 pounds. I overestimated it by... a bit. I tried explaining safety and I was allowing extra, but nooooooo...

:)

It should handle it fine. Rangers are considered 1/2 ton trucks. Just don't expect it to handle the same as when empty, but you probably no that!
Make sure the quad is strapped down well, stay out of overdrive on big hills, and drive safe.

You don't say which V6 you have. 3.0 or 4.0 ?
