My dads got one. It's older than I am, but it works. I'll bring it along. We'll have a tuning party Friday night at camp!

Hi, everybody -- sorry to have been one of the silent lurkers out here. I've been trying to find a way to meet up w/y'all but it still doesn't look likely. If I do make it down that way, I'll aim for Safeway breakfast (cinnamon rolls in the parking lot?) or BBQ. Or, If I end up there sometime in between, I'll just ask the locals about a bunch of folks in shiny trucks :exp:

I'll send Crotchety Old Man my cell #; someone PM me with theirs so I can call if I get there. Thanks everybody for keeping me in the loop.

Just curious -- this may have been addressed in one of the other 182 posts in this thread -- is Camp Spillman where you're going; is it even open in March? This article from 2002
http://www.nwsource.com/outdoors/scr/of_detail.cfm?category=camping&rt=173 says it's open mid-april thru mid-october.

... watch for my upcoming thread on pulley coincidences(?) and a steering fluid leak ... must do homework first

hmmmm...i wonder. i camped there last March, the second weekend I think. I'll call in the morning. That links info was from 2002 though. I'm sure things have changed.

Oh...and my dads meter doesnt work. Sorry.

:fart:We don't want to go to the horse camp.:fart:

Kammenga and Spillman Campgrounds, and the Kammenga 4X4 Trail entrance will remain temporarily closed. These sites and adjacent trail and associated trail bridges received extensive damage. The campgrounds and trails will be repaired over the winter and re-open in early spring.

This is why I'll call in the morning. If it's still closed, we'll be staying at the Belfair State Park. I'm already $90 into the prizes and damn it, I want to go camping, so what's another $50

http://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp?selectedpark=Belfair&pageno=2

Hell, I'll camp in the Safeway parking lot. I want this trip bad.

Any word yet?

Belfair is confirmed closed:thumbdwn:
I have a VM in with Sheri Jarrett at the DNR about Camp Spillman.

So far the nearest confirmed open camp area is Twanoh but it's on the South side of Hood Canal, 8 miles from Belfair, 16 from the trailshttp://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp?selectedpark=Twanoh

There's got to be somewhere to camp. All we need is some flat ground for tents and a place to park. I'll camp on the side of the damn road if I have to.

Should we think about relocating the event to higher ground where flood damage is not an issue?

If there is nowhere to camp, can we not just do a day event?

As for another place, I believe Reiter trails allows camping year round for free. There aren't as many stock rig trails, but can still be fun....

of all the weeks this is the one i cant get off work.:thumbdwn: sorry guys next time?

There's also Northbend, Liberty, and Elbe Hills. I already have the camper on the truck, Explorer on the trailer, and firewood loaded. I am camping and wheeling somewhere this weekend come hell or high water.

Arsoul confirms camping available!!

Ryan finally got ahold of someone at the DNR and reports there IS camping available at Effendahl Pass very near the trail heads.:thumbsup:

Camping is reported to be 'un-improved', no facilities available.

I'm sure Kevin will have a full tank of fresh water (40gal) and I have at least 10 and may pick up another portable carrier. My Porta pottie can be made available if need be and I'm sure Kevin would do the same (for a fee)

So, WE"RE ON

I have plenty of water, an outdoor shower and a hose to refill if needed. Toilet available for #2 only, if you have to pee, use a tree, tank fills up too fast otherwise :D

See you all at Elfendahl...Elfendale...Elf-whatsya-macallit Friday...

As far as water, I'll have 25 gallons on the chuck wagon. Shouldn't be a problem, there is a river just a few hundred yards from Elfendahl pass and the trail head (the source of all the storm damage and flooding).

Whew. . . Close call!

All -

Good work guys, I haven't been on the site for a day or so, so I started getting concerned as I scrolled down - - glad you guys found a great solution. . .

Thanks to Tim (92 Jalopy) for first raising the issue - - it would have been a severe Cluster-F@ck trying to track each other down without cell phone coverage either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning . . .

I'll bring 5 gallons of water and a shovel, so should be good there.

We might want to identify the Safeway Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. as a rally point if for some reason the Effendahl Pass camp site is unsuitable. . . But I agree with Kevin, I'll camp out along the side of the trail if need be.
