I think the original Bilsteins work great on the road. They are great off-road also but seem to be a little soft when it comes to rock climbing, a little too much bouncing. My rock climbing is not the heavy duty type either.
When the originals wear out (still good at 78,000 miles) I will see if I can get stiffer Bilsteins.
