2008 steering wheel adio control

Have 2008 Mountaineer Premier with steering wheel controls for audio. When I have the radio on, the channel changes when I push volume up. Any ideas on what might be going on?

Did you just purchase the vehicle? What does the channel change button do? My guess would be if you just bought it would be the buttons were replaced for some reason and they were hooked up wrong but not sure just a thought.
