2009 SPORT TRAC XLT
Well I finally got my new Sport Trac V8 XLT 2 Wheel Drive it took over 3 months from when I ordered it.Back in November I test drove one and it was great and this one is great also. The question I have is that the steering wheel does not lock I can't remember if the one that I test drove did or not.I asked the service guy about it and he gave me some speil and said that it did not. Can anyone here confirm this with their Trac. I think that it should. Thanks

Mine is only a 08, but the steering wheel does lock.

I have an '09 i have not noticed any lock on it.

Thanks for the replies.I contacted Ford Customer Service and they said they would get back to me. Sneakky when there is no key in the ignition can you move your steering wheel freely. Also I put a case of beer in the box drove home and on the way I could hear the case sliding when I got home and opened the tailgate there was beer in the box smashed 1 bottle. Christian the truck I guess. That box is real slippery so I got a bed mat for it now and it looks great and its non skid. Should save some money on beer now!

Just checked mine. With key out of Ig.. The stearing wheel does not lock. I'm thinking this is for the younger crowd. So they can park it on a hill. Sneak out of the house while the parents are sleeping. Coast down the hill. ( Stearing wheel not locked ) can coast it down hill & still be able to stear. Ok cool im away from the house Start it up & drive away. Nice sucessfull quiet get away lol..

As for the extra space in the rear box. i think its so you can put ice in with your beer. So when a cop pulls you over for speeding you can offer the officer a ice cold Brew lol

I had an '05 Trac before and the bed is much more slippery in my '08. I will probably get a bed mat also because of that, plus I haul grass clippings more than anything and they get in the cracks around the storage compartments.
The steering wheel in my '08 locks.

Just got back from the dealer and checked another Trac and sure enough the steering wheel doesn't lock. Talked to a mechanic there and he said all the new vehicles are like that. Thanks for all your replies.Sneakky I was thinking the same thing with the built in coolers lol.

My 2007 does the same thing. No lock. I was just wondering about this as well. I thought it was going be something else I have to fix. Guess not.
