My 2009 Sport Trac produces warm/hot air from the passenger vent unless the drivers temperature control is 60 or 65 degrees. Freon is good. The connections behind the console attached to the module have been cleaned with CRC contact cleaner and reseated several times. At 66 degrees on the drivers temperature setting the passenger vent changes from cold to warm air. A blend motor has been suggested. How does one check one, and or replace one? Thank-you!:us:

Having the same issue. Was checked out and was told it is the Blend Door Actuator, not the motor. I have located mine in my truck, and have the replacement. I am having difficulty removing the last bolt from the actuator. Was hoping someone had some suggestions on how to reach it (without removing the ENTIRE center console!).

The bolt you are referring to would require the dash to be removed. Center console removal (Cup holders and shifter slot) will not provide easier access to the bolt in question. It would facilitate visibility. Removal from below where you removed the side panel is the method stated, and is difficult, but possible.
A universal swivel on a 1/4" extension was what was used when mine was replaced.

I'm confused about the motor vs actuator. The motor is internal in the actuator. My motor was electrically defective. Some actuators fail mechanically where the gears mesh. Broken or worn teeth. The latter usually has a clicking sound.

Good Luck!

I got the bolt out, replaced the Blend door. It STILL CLICKS! Help?!? Blend door works, Duel air and heat work correctly.

Since I picked it up from the mechanic, when I was told the Blend door was bad (which doesn't seem to be the issue...) the SYNC has been malfunctioning as well. I have found something that I have not tried yet to fix the SYNC, we will see if it works.

I can help with your SYNC, MySportTrac09. What's going on?

Clicking after actuator replacement

Both dual air conditioner controls work? If so; which side causes the clicking when the temp is cycled from high to low and vice versa? How has the current condition (SYNC not included) changed from the original problem? You stated you replaced the 'Blend Door'. The 'Blend Door Actuator' which drives the shaft rotation for the 'Blend Door' typically causes the clicking due to internal gear mesh problems. If dual was not working on both sides as you stated; I would suspect a stuck 'Blend Door'. Second suspicion is a 'New Defective' 'Blend Door Actuator'. Third suspicion is opposite side 'Blend Door Actuator'. Last suspicion is that the new 'Blend Door Actuator' was not correctly aligned with the 'Blend Door' when replaced. The actuator would electrically attempt to continue to drive the 'Blend Door' in a direction and the physical 'Blend Door' would be fully open or closed. One direction should not exhibit a clicking if that is the case. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Rebecca, I believe I have fixed the SYNC. It required a "HARD REBOOT" of which required removing the battery cables and allowing all of the electrical devices to completely shut down. I had to do this as unfortunately my SYNC was not allowing a system reboot, as the options were all taken away.

As for the Blend Door Actuator (that is what I replaced, I must have forgot to write Actuator) The right side of the vehicle is where it clicks. It sounds as if though it is coming from the large round container (I believe it to be the fan housing) under the glove box. This is where the noise has ALWAYS come from. I replaced the Blend Door Actuator as that is what the mechanic said it was, and when I looked up "clicking or ticking noise under dash is 2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac" the Blend Door Actuator was really the only answer that ever came up. With either the DUAL on or off, the air and the heat works properly on both sides of the vehicle at all times. The clicking seems to have a mind of its own. Some days it will not click at all, some days it starts to click after the vehicle has been running for a while, and other days it will click as soon as the vehicle is turned on.

I'm glad you got it working. In the future, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any SYNC issues.
