Is it worth it to do this mod? I am about to add an elec fan,lights and sound?

It might be worth it if you need the extra current. You might need an isolator, and an extra battery if there is a big enough demand.

Do you know the amp output on a stock alt for a 99 sport? Thanks for such a fast response. Also , do you think I will need the extra batt and isolater. 150 black magic fan, 55watt driving lights, 200watt amp and the rest of the factory stuff.

The high optioned 95+ trucks have about 140 amp alternators. If you have less options the alternator will be less powerful. I bought a new 170 amp alternator for about $155 on eBay two years ago. It does fine for me with an electric fan and some extra light circuits.

You should use a progressive controller for an electric fan, that can be worth 30 amps easily by itself. Many OEM fans can suck 30-45 amps initially, the controllers make that a smooth rise in power, not shocking the alternator. Good luck,

There is also an option of adding an external regulator. It will work better when the engine is hot, but won't make a difference when the engine is cold.
