Not sure what this noise is. Happens at low speed with just a little throttle, such as cruising through town 20-30mph.

If I accelerate harder I don't hear the noise. Can also somewhat feel it in the steering wheel, especially when the sound moves to a "wub wub" type sound in the middle.

This is a link to the WAV file I recorded with my phone today:

Any ideas? 90k miles on the truck, so I was wondering if a simple tranny filter/fluid change would help.

I think I hear whales on your recording. ;)

But not much else that I can discern from what it usually sounds like or ambient noise.

If it's never had a tranny fluid change then I'd go ahead. If it has had one, how long ago?

Because you feel it in the steering wheel I would sooner wonder if you have a wheel problem and try rotating the tires to see if the noise follows the tire or steering vibration goes away with front wheels on the back, and of course inspect the front axles and brakes while you're doing it.

Thank you for your reply. I took it to the dealer yesterday. Shifting hard, tranny acting confused for lack of a better term. Hoping for the best!

Hubs/bearings?
Does the noise change when you move the wheel side to side gently?
