2011 Explorer Bluetooth Noise

We have had the car for a little more than 1 1/2 weeks. The Bluetooth sucks.....

Has anyone here had the rain TSB & noticed an improvement in the handsfree sound quality?

I've heard that the dealers have received the MFT update. Maybe it will be coming to our mailboxes real soon. If not, we will be invading the dealerships to have them install it.

I don't want to cause too much excitement, but I just installed the new MFT update this morning, and on my way to work called the wife from the Ex, and the she said the sound was MUCH better. I was on an interstate going 75, where normally she says I sound like I'm outside in a windy place.

Need to test it some more, but based on the first call, it looks promising.

Thanks for the report mad_dog97! That does sound (pun intended) promising :)

Just talked to my wife, first time I've talked to her while she's in the car and post "tin roof" rain noise fix and it sounds so much better. You still get an occasional whooshing sound but it is not constant like it was before. I think Ford may have killed two birds with one stone with this fix!

So the TSB for the rain noise also helped with Bluetooth, right?

Just had MFT upgraded today. Bluetooth sounds just as terrible as before. When do we get a fix for this? Current sound quality is just unacceptable.

Mine sounds more than acceptable, but I will say the 2010 F150 I just traded in was perfect sound quality and no background noise, so I wonder if it is just mic placement.

Some previous posts on this thread that you should have read first.

The fix seems to be here. Do Rain noise TSB in conjunction with upgrade.
Unless you've all ready done the TSB in which case your screwed.LOL

just mic placement.

Cheap mic, bad placement. The only way software can fix this is if they can boost the gain without boosting the noise, which I doubt. Rain Noise TSB might help, but it is still in the wrong spot. The other cars I own with BT have the mics in the center in the overhead console, closer to the driver, and the passenger. Why you would put it in the headliner, almost under the visor is beyond me, but I'm not an engineer.......

There is a very easy and cheap solution to everyones bluetooth/handsfree problem........

Check out the speed and ease of use with this thing!!!! Ford should jump on a partnership to integrate this into their vehicles!!!!

My Infiniti M had the mic in the exact same spot as the Ex and there was zero road noise to be heard, in fact there was no way for the person on the other end to tell if they were on speaker or not.

Anyone heard if Ford is working on a TSB or overall fix for this? I want this fixed (was hoping the new update would) but it still is terrible at highway speeds. I have seen posts that dealers have put insulation behind the mic, replaced the mic, and even put something over the mic...

Just don't want to show up, and them not really be able to do anything.

Thanks,

Have you had the rain-noise TSB performed? I have seen where people report positive results after it being done. They also talked about the new software update being installed too. That left them wondering which one contributed more to the improvement, or if it is the combination of the two.

MY FORD TOUCH and SYNC are bad dogs. No one should still be working at Ford if they were involved in letting this junk be installed in our vehicles. I don't want to spend another 3 hours at the freaking dealer. I should have lemon lawed the car. I think I have a few more weeks to do that. My 2005 worked perfectly and never ever had to go back to the dealer(s) for fixing the blue tooth.

I had the MFT update installed by the dealer and sorry to report the bluetooth noise is still horrible, like a wind tunnel.

We're still having speed related excessive background noise after the update as well.
