2011 Explorer Bluetooth Noise

Does the tech looking at the issue understand it fully? Does Ford? When I call my wife and she is driving the truck I hear the wind noise not her. If I am in the truck driving and I make a call it is the person on the other end that complains about the wind noise. Doesn't seem like the person driving the truck hears that wind tunnel noise from my experience with this issue

bluetooth noise

I dont think ford has a clue why we have all the noise.. I was hoping the up grade to sync would help but not any better!!! My 2012, 8 month old bluetooth is useless. My wife loves the xlt but hate the bluetooth noise. I am looking at replaceing my mountaineer but the explorer is not on my list because of the bluetooth. My wife doesn't use it much at all beacause of the complaints she gets. So sorry to say to those who have one .....I dont think ford is going to or trying to fix it. My dealership keeps telling me they haven't heard anything new.

Same issue here, loud wind noise in the background on other party's side when using hands free speaker phone. I think VinceL is correct it seems to be a DSP or auto gain issue.

bluetooth noise

I had called the dealership before I brought my car in so they could listen to it. The service center guy was like I can't hear you it sounds like you are in a wind tunnel.. I said great thats what I am bringing it in for.. I got my car back on Saturday with a report saying they did a test drive and "no issues were found" with the bluetooth noise. I called them again when I left the dealership and it happened to be the same guy who took my call and said it sounded better and was just "back ground noise" so then I called my husband and hes like its exactly the same.... So I think they know it is a problem and are just trying to lie to get around it...

I took mine in to get fixed, they acknowledged the issue, but said it was basically "as designed" since the 2013 we drove back to back had the same issue.

I think it is mainly due to the excess of wind noise which the mic is picking up...but again, the 2013 sounded the same..sooooo...i dunno. Really wish they would fix this, can't use hands-free because of this.

Bluetooth trouble...

I took my explorer in on Friday and had the service guy ride with me and made a call back to the dealership and confirmed the noise.. He said they were having trouble with iPhones and the system bc it is Microsoft program(sync) but said it resolved. He said it was probably a speaker and they are going to replace it.. They gave me a 2012 edge as a rental and it has the same problem with the Bluetooth.. So I don't think when I get it back it will be fixed.. But will keep you updated!

We're having this same issue. Figured it would be fixed after the sync upgrade that was supposed to take care of all our problems, but no. My wife has an iphone 4S, and when she calls me from the Explorer, it sounds like a wind tunnel. I always tell her to roll up the windows, but she says they already are! So frustrating!

I sympathize with the techs at the dealerships. They want to help us out, but they really have no idea what is causing the problem. Some of them try to blame particular cel phones. It is highly unlikely that a model of cel phone is the problem. Enough folks have posted on here about using a wide variety of cel phones to just about rule that out.

This problem exist with my wife's iPhone, my HTC thunderbolt, Droid X or my brand new Motorola Razor Maxx.

it ain't the phone......

Could it be one of four things.... window open, sunroof open, blower on at any speed or heater/cooled seats on? Any of these items will give the same effect, especially the heated/cooled seats blowing air straight up. Just a thought.

A lot of
background noise
during a phone
call.
The audio control
settings on your
phone may be
affecting SYNC
performance.
Review your phone’s user guide
regarding audio adjustments.

During a call, I
can hear the
other person but
they cannot hear
me.
Possible phone
malfunction.Try turning off the device,
resetting the device, removing
the device’s battery, then trying
again.

Straight up what? lol :D

The only wind noise coming from down there isn't the seat!

Sorry, Ron, but your suggestions are just a glaring example of how little the service departments know about fixing this problem. All of your ideas have been hashed and re-hashed far too many times. Until corporate decides to do what should have been done a long time ago, we will have to struggle along without use of bluetooth.

Watch the slams....

Please refrain from Sniper Shots..... PM me if you do not like what I say....

Thank you.

Ron,

Nothing personal. It is just frustrating to get the same boilerplate answers that you get from Sync Support. I have nothing but respect for the service departments. I think they are trying as hard as they can. It is just that the solution has not been determined.

The loss of GPS, the radios staying on after opening the door and a host of other issues (hopefully bluetooth noise, too) are being addressed in an update due out in the 3rd quarter of this year and NOTHING can be done about any of them (except the obvious cookie-cutter answers we have to hand out). Enjoy the cookies!

:chug:

Whoa, whoa, whoa... There is another update coming later this year??

I enjoy these boards, so I will refrain from commenting...... :fire:
Please don't ask for assistance from this guy... I have already helped many on here, but your name will be blacklisted.....

Plenty of folks on here have no issue, so it can't ALL be the manufacturer....

I'll bet you are a real treat to deal with at Irwin Zone. Nice! Good example of why some of us hate to deal with the dealership on issues.......
