So I purchased an upgrade kit to switch from Sync 2 to Sync 3 on my 2011 Limited. 99 % of everything works as it should except for the microphone.

Basically it appears to no longer be picking up sound. During a phone call with my phone connected the person could not hear me. I had to switch to my phone audio to do the call.

So I tried using voice functions through the car and it doesn't hear me with that either. Has anyone done this upgrade and had this issue?

bump!

I had this issue with a Sync 1->3 conversion, re-pinning the connections fixed it. There's really not a lot to the microphone system, the mic itself, a pair of wires running to the APIM and then the APIM itself takes the mic as an analog input. I would probably start by re-checking all the connectors, it's easy to engage the APIM connector without it being fully seated which obviously would cause connection issues. Where did you get the upgrade? There aren't any settings I can think of that would cause this but you never know.

I got it off ebay. But I will try disconnecting and reconnecting it and see if that helps the issue. Thanks for the input. The seller said he would send me a new one but I am gonna try and disconnect and reconnect today
