2013 Explorer
Recently purchased a Ford Certified 2013 Explorer. Seemed to be a great deal at the time, but already am finding several items that are making me wonder how this was a certified vehicle. The vehicle is currently in the shop for some front end chassis noise that I believe many have commented about in this forum and have had some success in fixing, which I'm hoping will be the case for me. I'll post the response from the dealer if it's fixed to help others in this same scenario. Hopefully, I'll get it back today as it's day 17 that it's been in the shop. The reason for my post is that I also noticed an alignment issue with the passenger front fender and the door. It is sticking out roughly a 1/4" higher than the door. I asked the dealer about it which they confirmed that it wasn't right, but also said that they couldn't fix it as they don't have a body shop. He recommended that I take it to a body shop. My question is shouldn't this be something covered by Ford and at least fall under the 3/36 warranty. Vehicle currently has 21000 miles. It looks like it was misaligned from the factory (I would think loosening a couple of bolts would be all that it'd take to align it properly). Unfortunately, I didn't notice this until I brought it home and washed it the first time. Just looking for clarification as this is the first Ford that I've owned in a while and I'm a little unsure on their warranty coverage.

I read about the same issues on this forum about 2013 and perhaps 2014 models. So much so that i went to look for these alignment issues on my 2015 ExSport. Luckily i didn't see even a single misalignment issue with my car. It should be covered under warranty and should be repaired under that. At least some other forum members did get it fixed under warranty by the dealers.

Take it to a Ford dealer that does have a body shop. It will take them less than an hour.
