I just got the new 2013 yesterday and I'm having a hard time getting the touchscreen to turn off after I stop the car. It seems it will only do it after I open and close the passenger side door. I turn off the button and the car turns off but the touchscreen stays on. Anyone else notice this or am I doing something wrong? Its brand new and I'm just figuring everything out.

It is the power retention feature. The goodies will stay on until you open one of the car doors. If you were to wait in the car without opening a door, I think it will turn off after 10 minutes because of the battery saver feature.

Fear not, it is behaving as it should! :D

Welcome to the Forum by the way and congratulations on your new car :) It is customary to post pictures of your new ride, so we are all waiting..... :)

Thats just it...when I open the car door it doesn't turn off. I get out of the car and come back and its all still on.

The only time that happens to me is when I push the start button after I have already turned the car off. It goes into accessory mode or on mode and takes a while to turn itself off. Are you saying that it never turns itself off? If so, that could be a problem.

Hi, kmrowe1!

If what Vince described below is not the case, please visit your dealer to have them look at your software.

Thanks for helping, Vince! :)

I took it into the dealer today and indeed there is a problem. Everything should turn off when you open the door but it doesn't. If I walk around and open and close the passenger door it does. Very strange. So...they are going to take a look at it. Sort of bums me out since I just got it last Friday and it's already going into the shop. I'm experiencing a little bit of Byers remorse.

Have you heard back from your dealer?

Any update? Hope you've gotten your vehicle back!

I'm on holiday right now and left the car with the dealer. I will find out in a couple days what the deal is nd definitely let you all know.

Well I finally got my explorer fixed and back. The latch on the drivers side door was faulty. You cannot believe what all is associated with that latch in the car. Nothing was working properly. It all seems to be a go now though...which is good because the snow is now falling and I want to winterized the convertible :-)
