2013 Ford Explorer XLT
Hi all,

I was hoping to get some guidance on finishing up an install of a powered sub in my 2013 Ford Explorer XLT.

I was told that I can't wire the remote turn-on to any of the wiring from the stock head-unit as it uses I-CAN (not sure what that means), so I bought a fuse tap and ran the remote turn-on wire to the fuse box under the steering wheel. I plugged the fuse tap in to fuse location 38 (moonroof/rear mirror) which I read powered on with the ignition, however it doesn't seem to power on the sub at all.

I know there's some sort of issue with the remote turn-on wire because the powered sub has an option to be on without a remote wire and it works fine. I want to run it with the remote wire because I want it powered off when the car is off (not to kill the battery). My only guess at this point is that fuse 38 is not getting power on ignition. Can someone recommend an alternate fuse location to tap in to?

Thanks!

Or even if someone can recommend a wire to splice in to from the back of the head unit in the '13 Explorer??

Use a multimeter to check which fuses get power when the key is on.. It's much simpler than you think.

Generally something like the radio fuse, windows, wipers, heater, stuff like that is 12V Switched.

Remote Turn on = purple/red at the radio in the black 26 pin plug, pin 18
Ignition = white/orange at the ignition switch in the black 7 pin plug, pin 1

if anyone still doesnt have an idea where to plug in remote for aftermarket amp. i did hook it up to inside fuse #48 (30A circuit breaker) turns on amp as soon as your radio gets power.
