Hi!
Since a few days the left wiper started to make a very annoying hissing sound and was very slow. At first I thought it the wiper needed to be changed so I bought a new set and installed it.
The sound was still present. And I was able to notice something I did not hear before, two or three clicking noise about 2 seconds of interval, once the wipe is over.

YouTubers were saying to put wd40 on the wiper itself which I thought was not a good idea... Or to pull the mechanical arm so that it's less pushing on the window... I also need on a youtuber that was loosing the arm's screw, but I can't find it anymore.

I tried this morning to put wd40 on bolt section and it's mechanism (not on the wiper, or the window).

The Hissing sound is less present but I can hear it because I know it was there. As for the clicking noise, it is still there. So I wonder, is my wiper system slowly failing or what should I do ?

Did you guys have that issue before?

Story time :
I had a very bad experience with a previous ford focus. The wipers would become slow and just stop in the middle of a wipe, the car became undrivable under rain or even, in case of emergency (dust or other thinks falling on window) .... Resorbed on the decision I had to change the wiper motor, getting a used part from a Kenny u pull, and these things are impossible to get out, then to have it reinstalled by the garage.

I don't know why there would be a "hissing" sound since the wiper motor is electronically powered. There have been no similar issues reported.
If they were operating normally before this happened a few days ago, I would ignore the advice from the YouTubers.
Try opening the hood with the wipers on and see if that will allow you to better pinpoint where the noises are coming from.

Peter.

Hi Peter, Yes the wipers were operating normally up to last month.
I could try to film it this week if I think about it. I'll also try to make the wipers work with the hood opened.

Okay please confirm if this is ok now

So update. I filmed the video. I changed the wipers and added some wd40 on the arms... nothing.

Reddit forums mention it could be the motor and to change it. No need to mention this is very annoying and potentially dangerous if it just stops eventually.
I should have tried to have the wiper work with the wiper removed or raised... and now that I tried, sure enough, the sound is the same.
