I recently purchased a 2014 Explorer Sport...I know I am not totally blind, but for some reason, I can NOT find the RCA inputs... You would think they would be in the same compartment (where the dash meets the center console) as the USB and SD card inputs, but it is not. I've looked in the center console and the glove box. The owner's manual was very vague and not helpful... The salesman (who quite frankly was not very knowledgeable) said mine didn't have AV input... Everyone I've talked to said it MUST have them... I just can't find them :-( ... any help out there? Thanks in advance.

I just chatted with someone from Ford.... they ran my VIN and told me that the AV input was removed in the 2014 models... Does anyone have any different input?

Removed from the Sport or all 2014 models? The 2014 Owner's Guide still shows and mentions the A/V (RCA) inputs as to where they are located and what they are used for.

NOTE: It would be helpful if you added the model (Sport) to your profile so that it shows in the left column where your name is. Not all models have the same features.

BTW, welcome to the Forum spierce.:wavey:

I can confirm that my 2014 Limited does not have the AV inputs.

BTW, love the forum

I find that strange that the Owner's Guide still talks about them as though they are there. I'll send a PM to Rebecca (IVT) and mention this to her.
Thanks.

Did they replace them with something? A regular 1/8th inch aux jack perhaps?

I had a 2011 Explorer XLT that had RCA, and was also surprised that the 2014 XLT I just got did not. It DOES have the 1/8 now though, which I personally find more versatile since you couldn't use the RCA video while moving anyway.

Check out Auxiliary Input Jack starting on page 415 of your Owner's Guide.

Hey everyone!

The A/V ports were removed from the 2014 Explorers; there's an auxiliary input jack for 1/8th connectors. If your Owner's Manual still states A/V inputs, we are aware and working to have it updated.

Is it now just an audio input jack or can you still pass video through it?

I wonder if swapping out a 2013 media hub would bring back the a/v inputs? or if there is a programming change in the 2014's software for aux audio only.. hmmmmmmm ;)

So will I be able to play video via the usb ports possibly?

Also is there a 2nd SD slot anywhere? All I see is the one for the navigation card.

No, you cannot play video via the USB ports; there's only one SD slot.

You can use a cheap USB card reader to give yourself a second SD slot, but I'm not sure why you would. USB memory sticks are so inexpensive these days there really is no advantage to using SD memory.

I agree... was just confused as I thought it mentioned playing music from an SD card but was wondering how you'd do that with the nav SD card in there.

you can use the sd card slot to play music if 1) you remove the navi maps card, or 2) you don't have the navigation option.

The maps card doesn't have to be installed if you don't intend to use navigation for that particular trip.
