2016 Ford Explorer XLT - hesitation at low speeds. Car has about 121,000 miles.
The car was our family car but is now our son's car at college. He drives it really only to and from school which is 3 miles at best one way. The rest of the time it's parked and only drives long distances when coming home which is all back roads for 2.5 hours. It rarely will be driven at speeds of 60 mph or greater.
At speeds of 20-50 mph the car has what I can only describe as a "hesitation or slippage" but no loss of power. The RPMs jump ever so slightly it hard to see on the gauge. At higher speeds i think its still happening but you really have to try to feel for it to even know that it's happening. Im not sure a hesitation or slippage is the right way to describe it since there's no immediate loss of power. Maybe a skip would be a better description but it continues to do it through the 20-50 mph range. It doesn't seem to be any issue from the transmission, it responses as normal. Of course, there's no codes. Mechanic has already changed plugs and coils which didn't help. He's had it about a month but not getting very far on the issue.
Any ideas besides replacing the transmission is appreciated. Thanks!
