Hi Guys,

Im about to purchase black lug nuts for my 2017 Explorer.

Alot of the websites including autozone are saying the size is 1/2"-20

But a couple other websites are saying M14x1.5 will also fit.

I know one is SAE and the other is Metric.

Can anybody explain the difference? Will both of these sizes fit?

Thank you in advance

M14x1.5

And no metric and SAE are not interchangeable.

I am not doubting the 14x1.5 fitment, but why do most websites say 1/2-20 ? So confused.

Welcome to the Forum.
The Dorman link you provided says 17" wheels and the lug nut is chrome.

Trust the owner guide above all others. But take a lug nut off & check it in a parts store.

Don't scrap the original lug nuts - you may want to put them back on if the new ones turn out to be garbage. For many years, the OEM for Ford lug nuts was McGard, so I recommend shopping for that brand first, and looking for those made in USA/Canadia/Mexico. McGard 64029 is the bulge (19mm) style probably made in USA; 64030 is the straight (21mm) style almost certainly m.i.USA.

I just bought a set of '17 XLT wheels without nuts. But I grabbed a handfull of the McGard 69400 (1-piece 1/2-20 enclosed 21mm m.i.USA, box of 100) that I bought for my Broncos & F150, and they fit great. This is the 4-pack:
