2014 Ford Explorer XLT
Hey everybody - I’ve got a 2017 Explorer XLT, V6 non-turbo. It’s started making a whining/whirring sound when driving. It seems tied to RPM as it gets louder as the car revs, then stops after the transmission shifts. It starts making the noise at about 25mph. It only happens when the engine is cold - after warm-up, it stops making the noise. Has anybody else experienced this? I wonder about alternator but I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. Thanks!

Any chance it's the serpentine belt?

That’s a guess as well. I checked it and it’s not cracked or anything, but I know that’s on the more extreme side of failure. It is the original belt, so I wonder…thanks for the reply!
