2 1/2 weeks 'till the '17 order bank opens.

I'm surprised that we haven't heard anything concrete about the changes to the vehicle.

You may once the 2016 order bank closes next week on the 16th.

While not a full announcement, Ford did release info about the XLT being offered with a Sport "appearance" package.

My sales guy said he put in an order yesterday for a 2016. Seems like the order banks are still open. He also said he hasn't received any info yet on the 2017's.

Ford pulls orders once a week on the changeover from Wednesday night into Thursday morning. That is why all orders were due on the 16th (Wednesday). That Explorer that he ordered on the 17th won't get built because it won't be pulled till next week. It will be converted to a 2017 if they accept it.

My connection can place orders for 2017s right now but he is one of only a couple that can do it (I've seen the screen shots).

We will see what happens, I just ordered a 16 for the wife of Thursday, then I found this site. Hope they let the 16 go through, I really don't want to listen to her complain about waiting for when they build the 17s.

Just waiting on a 17 Sport order availability in ON, Canada to trade my 2014. Still unable to order here.
WISH they would bring back Tuxedo Black however it is not mentioned thus Magnetic will get my next vote. Shadow Black will just be too difficult to maintain without scratches for a daily driver IMHO - my Ebony Black 2012 5.0 required weekly polishing with each handwash and it never saw a car wash...my OCD would never handle a large Explorer in the non-metallic black even though they are dead sexy!

I can't wait to see what the new features are for 2017. That will be my deciding factor on waiting on incentives for a 2017 Sport or find a deal on the 2016 Sport.

I guess it depends on how strict they are in enforcing the March 16th final order acceptance. I would not be surprised if your order is being held for the 2017 order process. It has happened before but I believe your salesperson would be advised of that to allow for any possible changes you may wish to make.

I spoke to someone at Chicago Assembly who advised me they are building 16 model year Explorer's right up till first week of June, so likely your vehicle will be built before that as a 16 model year.

Unless you're in a hurry I would cancel the 16 order, you're buying a brand new vehicle that is a model year old by the time you own it.

That's because they still have all the orders that have been placed from the 3,000+ dealerships up till the cutoff date to build. That doesn't mean Ford has extended the order deadline for the 16MY.

I placed an order for a 16' on Monday, and it was going to be built as a 16' until my dealer called the factory to cancel it.

So, it appears that they are indeed extending the ordering window.
My guess is that dealer stock is very low, and they would rather have late 16' stock through May and June, rather than nothing at all.

Or, there aren't enough orders in the system to keep the assembly plant working at full speed before the 17MY change-over.
Either way, if someone wants a new 16', you can order it today.
