2018 Explorer antenna

And from where?????

eBay...it comes in various colors and is 80mm tall...just tall enough to go over the stock 2018/2019 cover. It’s shorter than the 2016/2017 shark fin, and only 1/8” taller than the stock 2018.

Found a cover to go over the stock 2018 shark fin...minus the antenna mast of course.
Sorry to revise a dead thread but I had a tree break off my antenna cover. I don't know if the innards survived.

I am waiting for a quote from the dealer to fix it but I would like an alternative. Any advice would be appreciated. Right now Sirius is going in and out.

I am trying to ween myself off automated car washes but if I do here s a note to remember. You have to be more conscious of this especially with the mast being behind you. I had older Cherokee, Durango and Escape with the front quarter panel mounted mast antenna. Easy to remember to ask attendant to remove the mast until I got out of the wash. The mast can be screwed off by hand the trick is to remember not to gorilla tighten it when you replace it.

Hope this helps and for short drivers not so much just hope there is a fairly tall attendant or passenger.

I banged the mast when I put a paddle board on my roof. Now the GPS is flaky. I think I need to remove it to check the connection but I don't know how to do it. Any instructions on R&R the fin?

I believe you have to get at it by partially removing the headliner.

Peter is correct, you can see the nut if you remove the light, but you have to pull down the back part of the headliner to get to the nut. I just replaced my antenna with a new shark fin take off from 2019 police interceptor. eBay 24.99,

Why would the GPS be flakey?

A bad connection at the antenna??

That's what I am thinking. Gotta figure how to check it. I think i need to pull down the headliner. Gotta find YouTube video on how to R&R it.

What Brand? Where did you purchase?

I am having the same issue.

Way late to the thread. But might be useful for anyone wanting to cover the shark fin style antenna that has the screw on type mast in the back of it. I found a cover that fits the entire antenna.

It’s also available in Amazon

It was relatively easy to install with an adequate ladder from the rear of the vehicle. I attached the wire with the supplied nut where the mast screws on. I used a hair dryer to heat up the double sided tape before placing it on the roof. Took less than five minutes.

Cool, thanks for sharing.

I also always wonder why Ford went back to the 2015 style antennas on the 2018-19 models.

Hello can you please tell me where you found it at and were there any effects on the connections it operates. Thanks in advance.

I think you are asking the wrong member. The post you quoted was from a member asking 15Limited where he obtained the antenna that is shown. Unfortunately, 15Limited was last seen here on September 10, 2020.
