unbelievable.
Yes, pretty much everything you’ve claimed has been unbelievable. It’s not the first time someone has done this and it won’t be the last.

You don't believe a dealership sells vehicles with add ons for incentives? The add ons are paid for by the buyer, me.
Then you need to check some other dealership, the one in Knoxville has done this for 20+ years that I know of.
They have them on their website when in stock.
Strykers, and all other kinds of after market packages and add ons.
Rousch from the factory and after, etc.
It ain't rocket science.

Thought you had to work?

Thought you had to work?
I am....
But it boggles my mind that some just don't understand dealers add on stuff, to make the vehicle more sellable compared to the other dealerships across town, and of course to make more money off of the add ons.
More incentive to buy from the dealer who has a better vehicle, when across town doesn't.
This just makes sense,

All that matters, I'm happy with mine,
and also, you're happy with yours,
so, leave it at that.
There is more to life than a small difference in numbers.

Again, have a great day, and enjoy

I think I've said all that I can on this thread related to performance.
If you believe it, great, if not, well, that is your issue, not mine.
I'll ignore the rest of the naysayer trolls, and just say.... read back through, and maybe your answer is there somewhere....

I'm happy with my Explorer, and hope y'all are all happy with yours.

John

I must say that this thread was definitely one of the most entertaining threads I’ve read in a while.

Yup. Simply riveting...in a macabre sort of way.

I'm not sure why the grilling on this.
SM Performance is all that really pertains to acceleration and stuff, what it is, I don't know exactly.
I'm sure some members would like to know what exactly this SM Performance pertains to. There are many here that like to add tunes or performance upgrades to their vehicles so a breakdown of this SM Performance reference would be of a lot of interest to them. If something like that was ever added to a vehicle of mine, I would surely want to know exactly what it was. Also, keep in mind that it may not always be possible to have all your work done at the selling dealership if you occur issues while a distance away from home.

The only person available to talk to was the finance person I dealt with, and he told me all he knows, and that is what I told you. I will check the next time I need to have service done, see if the tech's know more details, or someone else that deals with the dealer addons. He thought they did it through the onsite Ford Accessories shop, but wasn't sure.

Me, I'm just a customer, that wants the comfort the Platinum gives, and I won't say no if it is more of a beast, how it does that, simply, I don't care. The stronger it is, the less likely I am to rag it out. Like I did the Escort GT I bought many moons ago (fast, but not this fast, but didn't last long), or the Ranger that croaked. 2 of my F150s held up really well, one, not so good, probably hauled too many railroad ties.

I don't need to go 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, in fact, most of the time I am running in eco mode, to save gas, but even in eco mode I am very happy that if I have to pass someone very quickly, I can.

But, one thing I have learned from all of our discussions, I know that I won't be trying to improve the performance any, like I had planned on. Simply because I really don't know exactly what it is starting at right now, for fear of messing something up that I don't realize it already has.

And you are right, it could break down on a trip to Disney World, or to the beach. I'll just hope it doesn't, and if it does, well, I'll let you all know if it was covered or not. If this thread isn't still going on, lol. Somehow I think it will pop up again and again and again, as others of disbelief want to tout their .....

I do appreciate your inputs

Don't let them bug you.
The dealership where I use to live did the same thing, upgrades to stock vehicles, including performance parts and tuning.

Looks like you like the vehicle, that is all that matters.

I’m still waiting to see a picture. It doesn’t need to be a sunny day.

411HP seems like a familiar number. Maybe you could have got the Explorer Platinum Hybrids that they sell in Europe?

As I stated, it showed on the window sticker ST Street upgrade (which wasn't free),
and it measured 411hp on a dyno.

So I guess the dealer doesn't know what ST Street upgrade and the associated cost were for.
And the service tech also doesn't know his ST from his Platinum from his .....

Just let it go. geesh
I just bought anew Platiumn I am going to get a tune put on it ASAP I think the SVT/ Ford performance shop there can do it we only have two dealers certified by Ford they have 2 mechanics trained at my dealership.
