2020 Iconic Silver ST Ordered - Now In My Garage

I would not accept a damaged vehicle or flawed paint so your scenario would not work for me. I only take delivery during a sunny day so I can inspect it with proper lighting.

Once paperwork is signed, you are stuck with the vehicle regardless of the 7 days.

I would not want to accept a flawed paint or damaged vehicle too, all I was saying that there is this 7 day return and fix thing that dealership would do...just in case I find any chirps or small dings on my car.

As the Warranty Guide states, " If you see any damage when you receive your vehicle, notify your dealership within one week."

Peter

Took delivery tonight 7/1. Yeah, maybe taking a risk on rebates but wanted to close the deal.

First impressions from the drive home:
- Paint finish is fine (for Blwnsmoke). Took delivery in bright sunlight.
- Eco and Sport drive modes are adjacent on the mode dial; will likely come in handy sooner rather than later.
- You can lock out the engine start/stop feature with a button on the console. Engaging Sport mode automatically locks it out while Sport mode is in use (this was a point of discussion in a different thread).
- There is no perceptible difference in exhaust note at idle between Eco and Sport; there is a big exhaust note difference between them when you hit the gas.
- Did not try any flat-out acceleration - still breaking in plus my wife was in the car.
- Cruise control worked fine but didn’t try the adaptive feature; not enough traffic.
- Nice quiet ride and good steering feel. Didn’t try any challenging curves. Handled the bad pavement in our local construction zones very nicely.
- Tires (standard, no street/track packs) are Michelin Primacy A/S. 255/55R20 of course.

I’ll post pictures tomorrow. Even with our Michigan summer late sunsets it was too dark for photography when we got home.

Congratulations!

I feel like you won something :)

Sport mode feeds audio through the speakers as fake engine noise. This is what I think you are noticing between the modes. The button on the dash for start/stop will need to be pressed every time you start the vehicle (forscan will fix this).

Congrats on the vehicle!!

The good thing is that if we are driving in sport mode then we don't need to press no buttons.

Correct but your mpg will tank if that is a concern for anyone.

The battery is in an enclosure under the windshield cowl on the passenger side. Has anyone seen this before? No owners manual guidance on how you get it out of there:

Congrats again!!

1st order of business, take the dealership sticker off your rear hatch.

As far as battery compartment, my wife's Audi had something similar. No clue yet on the Explorer. The plastic/cowl must pop up/off to expose it.

Are you missing a cover to hide your hitch, or is the new 2020 not coming with a cover?

Surprisingly this is my first car with a dealer sticker. What do you suggest? Will it peel off easily? A little heat gun treatment? I agree: I’m not crazy about supplying free advertising.

my current explorer I was able to carefully peel the vinyl letters off with my fingers and use go-gone to take the adhesive off gently without harming the finish... but I did it within a week of getting home before everything baked on.

Heat it with a hair dryer/heat gun and then peel it off. As fresh as it is it might not leave residue. If it does a little rubbing alcohol or goof off will take off the rest - will also take off any wax or sealant you have on the paint as well**

Being it is only a day or two old, I'd try a finger nail first.. may be surprised how easy it comes off. Otherwise as others stated, a hair dryer with a little heat.

I assume that ugly black plastic front plate mount is riveted on at the dealership and hopefully not the factory.

Since Michigan doesn't require a front plate, it is likely a factory install.

Peter

Not a big deal. I drilled out the rivets on the last 2 Fords and relocated the front plate lower down. Did some painted bumper plugs to fill the holes.

They are not installed at the factory if they are going to a non front plate state. I had to install my F350 and my fusion front plate that I get from Michigan. The holes were not in the front bumper. Same will be for the ST when I get it.
