2021 order availability and lead-time?

Kind of frustrating to see no SYNC4 in 2021 Explorer but the 2021 Edge getting SYNC4 and big 12" screen.

Yeah I posted this in the Sync 3 section.. definitely frustrating. But the more I think about it, I wonder if Ford is planning a screen redesign for the Explorer and we'll see that in the 2022 Explorer. New, likely bigger screen with Sync 4.

Nope that’s coming in 2023 and it will be one of the firsts to have the new Android OS so you can share your data and feed it straight to Google.

Maybe. I did see the article about android becoming the standard in 2023. Doesn’t mean they don’t upgrade to sync 4 with the current screen, do a new screen with sync 3(doubt it), or just do sync 4 with a new screen. Or maybe yeah they just hold tight. But that would put one of their top selling models 2 years behind on infotainment updates. We’ll see the though.

The 2021 models are already out. Production began last September. Several members already have them.
BTW, Ford's luxury segment is Lincoln. ;)

Hello everyone,
Ford is a car manufacturer, producing a variety of vehicles: sedans, SUVs, pickups. I want to build a Ford car, the car I choose is a luxury car of that company is the Ford Explorer. I am looking to buy model 2021. I do not know if Ford Explorer 2021 has been released yet, how much is it for? Are there any promotions or offers when I make a purchase? Hope everyone let me know.
Thanks everyone.

Just talking to some people at CAP, they haven't build a completed unit since mid April. They are told they might re-start June 7th but that might be pushed till July or later. This semiconductor chip shortage is killing production.

I was at a dealer yesterday and I asked about 2022, and he said they were getting pushed to early 2022. But who knows. He may just be trying to sell me on a 21.
Btw, has anyone experienced a “market adjustment price”? No way in hell am I paying extra for an explorer.

The Police Advisory Board Meetings are Tuesday/Wednesday this week and I will likely get more info which I will share immediately here.

Info from today's meeting is that production at CAP will restart first week of June, those dates posted above are apparently still what is expected to happen and remain consistent with what I was told today.

Interesting info today, the company that provides majority of the automotive microchips had a fire on one of their 6 production lines a while back. So while trying to ramp up production from COVID19 shut downs they get hit with a fire. While assessing the repairs to that line they determine all 5 active lines must close for 4 weeks to allow for repairs. This was the bulk of the hit and now they are struggling to get back up.

One thing I didn't know was some companies that had large quantities of valuable microchips before the shortage happened are auctioning them off to the highest bidders in lots, obviously taking advantage of demand and the situation. But not all chips are the same so if Ford needs microchip Model 123 for a module and there are only model 456 available in a particular auction the engineers have to scramble to test that different chip on their module boards to see if they should bid before the microchips are gone to a higher bidder. Talk about a Sh%& Show!

Their info today was we should start to see some relief soon, but know that there is a ton of module re-engineering going on right now

They’ve got enough trouble getting their intended designs to go without bugs and hiccups. I’d hate to see what utter failure their hasty engineering will yield.

I think the chip issue is the mined supplies. I don’t think we can mine it here, so we are still going to be under someone else’s mercy at the raw materials cost. Add in the increased labor cost, and environmental issues and I don’t think it’ll be a viable solution.
